Lock Your World of Warcraft Characters

While one of the primary focuses of World of Warcraft is gaining levels until your character is maxed, many players choose to lock their characters at a certain level to enjoy different parts of the game. Some players use characters known as "twinks," which are low-level characters equipped with expensive gear, to devastate opponents in battlegrounds. Other players wish to lock their characters at level 60 to enjoy classic raiding content. Whatever your reason for locking your character, the process is quick and easy.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the appropriate city for your faction. Horde players need to head to Orgrimmar, while Alliance players should hop a gryphon or port to Stormwind.

    • 2

Proceed to the area that contains your PVP battlemasters. In Stormwind, you will find them at Stormwind Keep. In Orgrimmar, head to the Valley of Honor.

    • 3

Speak with the NPC that controls experience gains. The Horde character is a semi-transparent Undead named Slahtz, while the Alliance character is a human named Behsten, also semi-transparent. The pair's names are a play on the phrase "Best in Slot," which refers to the best item for any particular inventory slot.

    • 4

Right-click the NPC to open his dialog box. Click the appropriate buttons to turn off your experience gain, which will also cost you ten gold. You can visit these NPCs at any time to turn your experience back on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Players that are experience-locked will only meet other players with experience disabled in battlegrounds. This means that your competition will likely be made up of other twinks, if twinking is your motivation for locking your character.
