Instructions

    • 1

Wet your hair and remove any product. Cutting works best on wet hair. If you have any product like hairspray or gel it's best to remove it before beginning. If you have no product in your hair you can simply spray your head with water. If you do have product, remove residue with shampoo and conditioner.

Wrap a towel, smock or cape around your neck. This will help with clean up and save stray hairs from falling on your clothes or down your top.

    • 3

Comb out tangles and smooth the hair with a wide tooth comb. Wide tooth combs prevent breakage on delicate, wet hair, unlike regular combs. Removing the tangles will help keep hair even and avoid a messy look.

    • 4

Grab 1 1/2 inch wide strips of hair and gently lift away from the head. Pull hair between your index and middle finger, starting at the base of the head.

    • 5

Snip the ends of each section at a 90 degree angle using shears. Never make cuts in a straight line. Take only the smallest amount off each time to avoid cutting too much.

    • 6

Continue up the head cutting 1 1/2 inch sections of hair. Each time you make a cut comb out the hair to make sure it blends well.

    • 7

Remove hair on the back of the neck with an electric razor. Clean up any stray hairs on the neckline quickly with an electric razor for a neat and tidy look.
