How to Clean a Door Jamb
When you are giving your car a thorough cleaning, the door jamb is often a troublesome area. Due to the nature of its construction, a car's door jamb helps seal the car, but it is also a difficult area to reach. It is full of small areas that do accumulate dust and grime over time, and like any other area of your car, it needs maintenance if it is to perform well. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Protective gloves
- All-purpose automotive cleaner
- Toothbrush
- Soft brushes
- Spray bottle
- Microfiber cloth

Put on a pair of nitrile or latex gloves to protect your hands as you clean.

Open the car door and inspect the door jamb. This includes both the part that is on the body of the car, and the part that is on the door. Identify where the grease and debris is concentrated strongly.

Spray one small area with an all-purpose automotive cleaner, taking care not to get any cleaner on the interior of the car.

Scrub the area with a soft-bristled brush. Use a toothbrush to get at hard to reach areas.

Apply more cleaner if necessary. Do not allow the cleaner to dry on the door jamb.

Fill a spray bottle with water and turn the nozzle to stream, which gives you a directed, strong spray of water.

Rinse the area that you are scrubbing, removing the last of the grime.

Use a microfiber cloth to dry and buff the area you were working on.

Work from the top of the car's door jamb to the bottom, repeating Steps 3 through 8.
