How Get in the Golden Apple Awards
The Golden Apple Award began in 1986 as a way to pay tribute to an exceptional teacher. Annually, 10 teachers from the Chicago area are selected as recipients of the award and receive a variety of prizes including a paid sabbatical, a semester at Northwestern University, $3,000 and the addition of their names to the list of Golden Apple Award recipients, according to GoldenApple.org. The award was founded by Martin J. Koldyke as a way to recognize teachers for their hard work and dedication.
