How to Fold a Napkin to Look Like a Diaper
The lighthearted tone of a baby shower usually includes a little dose of diaper humor. Decorative cakes made from disposable diapers, games with mystery melted chocolate bars, and a host of other humorous uses of diapers help to break the ice and help everyone have a good time. (See References 1, 3) The theme of a baby shower can include napkins folded to look like diapers or the napkins might spark ideas for establishing the creative theme. Does this Spark an idea?

Fold the side and bottom points toward the center so they overlap. Pin with a diaper pin. Fill with packets of raisins or other snacks appropriate for the shower theme. (See References 2)

Tips & Warnings
Consider other creative possibilities to substitute for napkins. For a Western theme, try bandanna handkerchiefs. Fill the diapers with cellophane-wrapped trail mix tied with sisal twine.
Go retro with vintage cloth napkins from a flea market or resale shop. The entire shower theme could include vintage children's books, games based on classic fairy tales and a display of old toys. The vintage napkins would make great quilt squares or a nice gift for the new mom as a memento of the shower.
Substitute 10-inch squares of quilting fabric for the napkins, have each guest write a note with a fabric pen and sign their fabric square. After the shower, have the squares assembled into a wall or crib quilt for the new baby.
Substitute squares of flannel for the napkins and give them to the new mom for use as washcloths or burp cloths after the shower.
