1
Start the campfire an hour before you plan to start roasting the corn. Allow the fire to build into a full flame before you begin cooking.
-
2
Peel back the husk of the corn. Do not completely detach the husk. Use your fingers to remove the pieces of silk from between the kernels. Remove as much of the silk as possible before continuing.
-
-
3
Wash the corn with warm water to remove any remaining debris. Spread butter or another oil over the ear of corn. Pull the husk back into place around the ear.
-
4
Wrap each ear of corn in two layers of foil. Make sure all sides of the ear are completely encased in foil. Use the tongs to create an opening in the base of the fire. Place the wrapped corn inside the hole. Cover the hole with the fire kindling to completely encircle the corn in heat. This will help ensure the corn roasts evenly and thoroughly.
-
5
Allow the corn to roast for approximately 20 minutes. Reopen the hole and carefully remove the corn using the tongs. Allow the corn to cool before eating.
