Rival GC8101-WN Ice Cream Maker Instructions
The Rival GC8101-WN ice cream maker has a freezer container, paddle, paddler extender, cover, mixing feeder and a motor unit that allows you to make your own ice cream. The GC8101 model will make a quart of ice cream of any flavor that you want. It will take about 10 minutes to get the ice cream maker ready and about 40 minutes to make the ice cream that will be ready to eat. - Plastic bag
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- Wire whisk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup whipping cream
- 2/3 cup half and half

Wash the paddle, cover and freeze canister in warm water before using. The motor unit can be wiped down with a damp cloth when needed. Allow to dry.

Place the freezer canister in a plastic bag and tie the bag shut. Place the canister in the bag inside the freezer. You can test the canister to make sure it is frozen by shaking it. If you hear liquid moving between the walls of the freezer canister, it is not frozen yet. When you don't hear the liquid moving around, the canister is frozen and ready to make ice cream.

Mix together the salt, sugar and milk in a bowl with a wire whisk until the sugar dissolves. Add the vanilla, whipping cream and half and half. Mix together with the whisk.

Assemble the ice cream maker. Make sure the unit is turned off. The motor unit will slide into the cover and lock into place. There are two tabs underneath the cover that will make a clicking sound when the motor is locked into place. Insert the paddle into the motor in the center opening.

Remove the frozen canister from the freezer and the plastic bag. Place the cover and motor on the canister. Turn the cover slightly clockwise to snap the tabs into place. Plug in the ice cream maker. Turn on the unit immediately.

Quickly pour the mixture into the mixing feeder outlet on the cover of the ice cream maker. Leave the machine run until the mixture has the desired consistency, which can take 20 to 40 minutes. Turn off the ice cream maker when the product is done. Never turn off the unit in the middle of the cycle.

Remove the cover and paddle from the freezing canister as soon as the unit is turned off. Use a plastic or wooden spoon to remove the ice cream. Place uneaten ice cream in an airtight canister and place in the freezer.

Tips & Warnings
Keep the freezer canister in the freezer all the time when not being used so you can make ice cream any time you want.
If your freezer is set at 5 degrees Fahrenheit, it will take 24 hours or more for the canister to freeze. If the freezer is 0 degrees Fahrenheit, it can take 22 hours and if the freezer is set at -13 degrees Fahrenheit, it can take 13 hours to freeze.
Do not put the freezer canister in the freezer when it is wet.
