How to Make a Star with an Elastic Band
If you love natural, rustic decorations that are still charming and whimsical, then make a star out of elastic bands. Use it as a holiday tree topper, an ornament or a gift decoration. Start collecting elastic or rubber bands in different colors and sizes. You'll find them in your morning newspaper or around the doorknobs in your home. Alternatively, you can purchase ponytail holders. The best part of this project is that it utilizes ordinary, recycled materials.

1
Lay the cardboard on your workspace. Draw a star on the face of the cardboard with a pencil. Then, cut out the star with a pair of scissors.
-
2
Wrap the elastic bands around the star. There is no required form to this; be creative. For example, you may stretch your band around one of the bottom points of the star and then wrap it around one of the top stars twice. Wrap at different angles. Wrap twice or three times around one point. Your bands do not need to be flat or even and it is OK if they get twisted, as this increases the charm of the finished product.

Continue to add elastic bands to the cardboard star until the surface is covered completely. To achieve this, use elastic bands of different lengths and thicknesses.
