How to Make Disco Ball Invitations

Disco balls equal party!

Nothing says party like a disco ball, and putting them on your invitations is a way to get the party started a little early. The disco ball invitation suits most types of parties, whether you are throwing a bachelor, bachelorette, birthday, dance or other type of shindig. You can find the supplies you need for the craft at craft stores or even some big-box stores, while some are probably laying around your house.

Things You'll Need

• Black card stock (enough to make as many 4-by-6-inch invitations as you need)
• Plain card stock (for the disco balls, you can use the black card stock if you'll have enough left over)
• Aluminum foil
• Scissors
• Clear adhesive spray
• Black, fine-tip permanent marker
• Small silver glitter
• Metallic permanent marker

Instructions

1. Cut out 4--by-6-inch rectangles from your black card stock for your invitations.

2. Cut the additional card stock and aluminum foil into 3-inch-diameter circles. You can cut one circle out of the card stock to use as a pattern.

3. Spray the card stock circles with a clear-drying adhesive.

4. Place the aluminum circles on the sprayed card stock circles quickly, before the adhesive begins to dry. Smooth out the aluminum. Allow to dry the amount of time specified on your adhesive.

5. Draw a grid-like pattern on the aluminum side of your circles using a fine-tip black permanent marker. The grid design should resemble the design on a disco ball.

6. Spray the aluminum side of the circles with the adhesive. Sprinkle small, silver glitter over your miniature, aluminum disco balls. Allow to dry.

7. Glue your miniature disco balls onto your invitations. Glue them towards the left side for horizontal invitations and toward the top for vertical invitations.

8. Write "You're Invited" or your desired phrase to the right of the disco ball (horizontal) or below the disco ball (vertical) using a metallic silver, gold or desired color permanent marker.

9. Turn the invitations over and use your metallic permanent marker to write the details of the party.

Tips & Warnings

• Your invitations don't have to be black, you can use whatever color you like. If you're not fond of your handwriting, choose a colored card stock that will show ink from a computer printer. You can then design the back of your invitations and print them off. You might also be able to find a two-sided card stock paper, one side being colored and the other being white.
