A GE Profile dishwasher that does not drain is not typically a sign of a larger problem. In fact, if you could choose which problem you had to have with your dishwasher, you might choose to have a dishwasher that will not drain because this does not require a lot of effort to fix. When fixing this problem, you should remember that there will always be a little water at the bottom of the dishwasher right after a load washes.
Turn off the dishwasher.
Remove the chrome cover from your air gap, which protrudes a couple inches above the rim of the sink.
Pull up to remove the plastic cap.
Clean any debris off the air gap with a toothpick. Put the plastic cap and the chrome cover back in place and turn the dishwasher back on. The GE Profile dishwasher now should drain.
Tips & Warnings
- If the dishwasher does not drain after cleaning the air gap or if you do not have an air gap, turn on the disposer and let it run for a few moments until the food inside of it is processed and cleared.
