The flight planner in FSX allows you to create a route that can be used with any aircraft GPS system.

FSX is the 10th installment of Microsoft's popular Flight Simulator series. The game allows you to fly from anywhere in the world using a variety of aircraft. In the game, you can create a flight plan that will give you a direct route to your destination. The route can be displayed with your aircraft's GPS system during the flight.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to "Free Flight" on the left-hand side of the flight simulator main menu. Select "Flight Planner." This is where you will begin creating your route.

    • 2

Choose a departure airport and a destination airport for your flight. Then select the type of route. Once you are finished, select "Find Route." You will now see your route for your flight, displayed as a red line.

    • 3

Choose the cruising altitude for your flight. Then select "NavLog" to look over the details of the flight. You will see how much fuel will be needed, average speed and the estimated time of the flight. You may print this out if you like. Click "OK" when you are finished.

    • 4

Save your flight by selecting "Save" on the bottom left corner of the flight planner. Choose to save the file in the "Flight Simulator" folder on your computer, then click "Save." You have now created a flight plan that can be used with any aircraft GPS system during flight.
