How to Make a Jack-O-Lantern in "Viva Pinata"
If you want to tame a Sour Sherbat or add some Halloween decor to your "Viva Pinata" garden, you'll need to visit Bart the tinkerer in the village to get a Jack-O-Lantern. You can hire Bart when you're a level nine gardener in "Viva Pinata" or a level seven gardener in "Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise." Bart can change ordinary pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns, which aren't available for purchase in the village stores.

Go to the game menu and choose the "Village" option. Select Costolot's Store. Choose the seeds section then select a pumpkin seed. Plant the seed then choose the "Checkout" option. Select "Yes" to finish your purchase.

Exit the menu. Water the pumpkin seed with the watering can then wait a few minutes for it to grow. It will pop off the vine when it's fully ripe.

Go to the menu. Visit the Village then select "Bart's Exchange." Choose the Bronze, Silver or Gold level of tinkering. Gold costs the most, but it also guarantees that Bart will successfully turn the pumpkin into a Jack-O-Lantern. The Bronze level has a 25 percent success rate in "Viva Pinata" and a 60 percent success rate in "Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise." The success rates for Silver are 50 percent in "Viva Pinata" and 85 percent in "Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise."

Select the pumpkin as your item. Choose "Checkout" then select "Yes."

Close the menu to get back to your garden. Bart will come out of the small patch of farmland near the village path and walk over to the pumpkin. He'll attempt to turn it into a jack-o-lantern.

Tips & Warnings
Feed a Jack-O-Lantern to certain species, such as Doenuts and Arocknids, to change their color to orange and get a "Variant" achievement.
Costolot's Store has pumpkins for sale if you don't want to wait for one to grow, but the cost of a pumpkin is considerably higher than the cost of a pumpkin seed.
An unsuccessful tinkering attempt means your pumpkin will disappear. You'll have to grow or buy a new one and pay Bart for another try.
