How Much Fragrance Oil Do You Use in an Oil Warmer?

Oil warmers are an alternative to a traditional candle. Oil warmers come in multiple styles. Depending on the style of the oil warmer, and the quality of the scented oil used in the burner, the oil consumption will vary.

Things You'll Need

• Oil burner
• Scented oil (made for candles, not skin oils)
• Tea light candle (not scented, only needed if the oil burner is not electric)

Instructions

1. Determine if the oil burner to be used is electric, or if it requires a tea light candle.

2. Drop 5 to 8 drops of scented oil in the oil tray.

3. Light the tea light under the burner or plug the oil burner in and turn it on.

4. Determine if the oil amount suggested above is the appropriate amount of oil for the size of the room after the first use. If the oil's scent becomes overwhelming, blow out the candle or turn off the power source (for an electric burner.)

Tips & Warnings

• It is best to start with a small amount of oil until the potency of the fragrance is determined. Oil potency will vary with brand quality.

• Never add oil to a heated tray. It will cause the oil to scorch. If more oil is desired, it is best to allow the burner to cool, add more oil and then re-light the candle. Do not add any other mixture to the oil. Water or other liquids should not be added to oil designed for an oil burner.
