How to Drain a Water Bed With a Siphon
Waterbeds must be carefully filled and maintained to avoid leakage and provide the correct amount of support for your back and body. While filling and maintenance may seem simple, the thought of having to drain a waterbed mattress can seem a bit more daunting. In fact, draining is very simple. It requires a little work and a bit more waiting, but once drained, the mattress can be moved more easily than a regular foam or spring mattress. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove all bedding and unplug the waterbed heater before draining.
-
2
Pop up the waterbed mattress plug and remove the cap.
-
-
3
Connect one end of a garden hose to a faucet and the other to the mattress plug. The best faucet to use is an outside faucet, as long as the waterbed is on a higher level than the faucet.
-
4
Turn the water on for 15 seconds.
-
5
Turn the water off and unscrew the hose from the faucet. Hold the water in the hose with your thumb.
-
6
Put the hose out a window or into a bathtub and allow the water to flow out of the mattress. Make sure the end of the hose is lower than the mattress so that gravity pushes the water continuously.
