Instructions

    • 1

Preheat an oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. At the same time, place a skillet on the stove top and preheat at a medium temperature.

    • 2

Place the steak on a clean countertop and rub 2 tbsp. of pepper and 1 tbsp. of salt into the meat. Coat both sides generously, using more salt and pepper if needed. Add any other personally preferred steak seasoning to the meat at this time.

    • 3

Place the steak onto the preheated skillet and seer each side for 30 seconds, using a pair of long-handled metal tongs to flip the meat safely.

    • 4

Remove the meat from the skillet and place it into an ungreased pan. Bake in the oven for 7 to 14 minutes. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the cut of steak. Take the pan out of the oven and cut into the center with a sharp knife to gauge how well the meat is cooked.

    • 5

Serve immediately after removing from the oven. If juices remain in the pan, pour them over the steak as a sauce.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have one available, use a ribbed, cast-iron griddle pan to mimic the flavor and appearance of a grill-cooked steak.
