You can remove the dashboard on your Honda Accord yourself right from your home garage. You just need a few inexpensive tools that can be purchased from any hardware store. Dashboards can become cracked due to age and sun exposure. You can replace it with a new one, or you can save yourself some money and go to an auto wrecking yard and purchase a used one in good condition. Sometimes the dash may be just fine, but you may need to gain access to the electrical wiring underneath. With these directions, you can remove your Accord's dashboard without damaging it or your vehicle.

Step 1

Park the Accord on a level, paved surface and engage the emergency brake. Pop the hood and find the negative battery cable clamp. Loosen the retaining nut with a pair of pliers and slide it off the terminal. Set it aside but don't allow it to touch metal or the positive terminal.

Step 2

Locate the fuse panel box on the lower part of the driver's side dash. Pull down on the cover with your fingers. Locate the SRS fuse on the fuse panel diagram located on the backside of the fuse panel cover. Remove the fuse pullers and use them to pull out the airbag fuse. Wait about 30 minutes before proceeding.

Step 3

Remove the shift knob screws and the screws at the corners of the shift console with a Phillips head screwdriver. Remove the shift console from the Accord.

Step 4

Pry off the trim bezel and all of the knobs on the instrument cluster with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 5

Remove the screws holding the ashtray in place then remove the ashtray and pull out the stereo. Remove the 12 screws located behind the cruise control, behind the coin box, behind the brightness controller, on top of the instrument panel and above the air vents with the Phillips head screwdriver.

Step 6

Remove the side glove box screw and the screws below the glove box then pull out the glove box.

Step 7

Locate the caps on each end of the dash. Pry the caps off with the flat head screwdriver and remove the screws underneath.

Step 8

Pry off the plastic on the face of the clock with the flat head screwdriver. Remove the screw behind the clock and pull the clock out of the dash.

Step 9

Pull the dashboard forward and unplug all its electrical connections. Remove the dashboard from the Honda.
