How to Test a Satellite Phone's External Antenna

It is important to occasionally test out your satellite phone.

A satellite phone is a portable device that, unlike other wireless phones, does not require a nearby cell tower in order to function correctly. This means you can use the satellite phone just about anywhere in the world. However, during extended periods of not using the phone, it is a good idea to occasionally test out the satellite phone, just to make sure it is correctly working properly for when you do need the equipment.

Instructions

1. Move to an open area where you have no cloud cover or roof above your head. In order for a satellite phone to work properly, you need to make sure you have a completely clear signal.

2. Fully extend the antenna on the top of the satellite phone.

3. Hold the satellite phone up and press down the "Power" button. The satellite phone now searches for a satellite signal. Once the test is complete, a satellite power bar appears on the phone. If the bar does not appear, move to a different location and repeat the process.
