Experimentation and creativity are the keys to wearing scarves in a new and fashionable way. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Tie a small square or rectangular scarf tightly around your neck for an Audrey-Hepburn-in-"Roman Holiday" vibe. Look for square scarves between one foot to two feet in height and width, and rectangular scarves no more than 18 inches in length. Knot the scarf tightly enough to lie flush with your neck, but not so tightly that breathing or swallowing become difficult. Lightweight fabrics, such as chiffon, tulle or gossamer are best for this particular style; bulkier fabrics will bunch around the neck.

Drape a long, rectangular scarf over one shoulder, then loosely loop the remaining fabric once around the neck and collarbone, draping the remainder over the other shoulder. This lets intricate or patterned scarves act as a necklace, bringing new textures and colors to your overall look. When wearing a scarf like so, it is best to keep other accessories simple, and to pull your hair back into a bun or ponytail. Too much decoration will make you look heavy and weigh you down.

Revive and reshape a trapeze dress or a tunic blouse by tying a long, slim scarf around your waist. For a more bohemian look, tie the scarf directly under the breasts for an empire waist. Let the ends dangle, or if the scarf is incredibly thin consider tying the ends in a neat bow. Use a lightweight scarf that is no wider than six inches.
