Instructions

  1. Cooking Rice

    • 1

Measure the amount of rice you would like to cook into a bowl. The amount of uncooked rice yields about twice as much cooked rice (for example, 1 cup of uncooked rice yields 2 cups of cooked rice).

    • 2

Rinse the uncooked rice until the water becomes clear. This removes excess starch, which helps prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the rice cooker.

    • 3

Pour the uncooked rice into the inner pot of the rice cooker.

    • 4

Fill the inner pot with water, up to the appropriate line. The lines correspond with the amount of uncooked rice. For example, fill with water to Line 1 if cooking one cup of rice, Line 2 if cooking two cups of rice, etc.

    • 5

Place the lid on the rice cooker, and plug in the appliance.

    • 6

Press the rice cooker switch down to initiate cooking. The "Cook" indicator lights to indicate cooking. When the rice is ready, the "Warm" indicator lights and the appliance keeps the rice warm at a lower temperature.

    • 7

Wait five to ten minutes after the "Cook" indicator turns off before removing the rice cooker lid.

    Steaming Food

    • 8

Add about 3 cups of water to the inner pot of the rice cooker. The exact amount of water is not very important, but there must be enough water so that it does not completely evaporate while cooking.

    • 9

Set the rice cooker steam tray into the inner pot, above the water.

    • 10

Place the food you want to steam on the steam tray. Do not crowd the food on the tray. Space between the food allows the steam to circulate and cook the food more quickly.

    • 11

Place the lid on the rice cooker, and plug in the appliance.

    • 12

Press the rice cooker switch down to initiate cooking. The "Cook" indicator lights to indicate cooking.

    • 13

Allow the rice cooker to steam the food. Vegetables are done cooking when they reach the desired tenderness. Meat is done cooking when it reaches the appropriate safe internal temperature.

    • 14

Press the rice cooker switch up to stop cooking. The "Warm" indicator lights to indicate the food is being kept warm.

Tips & Warnings

  • Soak the uncooked rice in water for 10 to 20 minutes before cooking for softer rice.
