How to Remove Dog Hair From Polar Fleece

How to Remove Dog Hair From Polar Fleece thumbnail
Polar fleece stands up to years of wear and laundering.

Polar fleece's warmth and durability make it a good choice for outerwear and blankets, although its fluffy surface attracts pet hair and lint. These problems are most apparent in the winter, when humidity levels in heated homes are low and static electricity is high. Brush and bathe your dog frequently to reduce the amount of pet hair in your home and don't let pets sit on upholstered surfaces, such as the bed, couch and chairs. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Spray the polar fleece item with a static reducer spray to decrease static electricity that attracts hair. Hang your polar fleece up after wearing it so pet hair doesn't migrate to it from the carpet or furniture.

    • 2

Brush a lint roller over the polar fleece to remove hair. Alternatively, tear a 2-inch piece of masking tape and form it into a circle. Brush the polar fleece lightly with the tape, moving to a clean part of the tape when the tape becomes covered with hair.

    • 3

Turn the polar fleece inside out, closing all zippers. Wash it on a regular cycle and tumble dry to remove most of the hair. Clean the dryer's lint catcher before drying the garment so it operates most efficiently.

Tips & Warnings

  • To keep it looking new, wash polar fleece in warm water and tumble dry or hang it on the line, advises Polartec's website.
