How to Square Knot a Leather Bracelet
Let the chic simplicity of leather cording be the focal point of a leather bracelet. Leather cording can make an eye-catching bracelet, especially when you add some dynamic and colorful beads that coordinate with the leather cording. Use the basic square knot as you construct a leather bracelet. The entire beaded jewelry piece will come together simply and elegantly to create a bracelet you may wear often with casual attire.
Things You'll Need
- Tape measure
- 1 yard leather cording (.9 mm)
- 1 colorful bead (13 mm)
- Scissors

1
Measure your wrist with the tape measure and add 2 1/2 inches. This is the length you need to make your bracelet.
-
2
Fold the leather cording in half to find the halfway point of the cording. String a bead onto the cording and push the bead along the cording to the halfway point of the cording.

3
Hold the bead in place at the halfway point of the cording and bring the two ends of the leather cording together to tie a square knot beside the bead. Cross the right end of the leather cording over the left end and pass the right end under and through to tie the first half of the knot. Repeat the same process except cross the left end of the leather cording over the right end of the cording. Tighten the square knot snugly against the bead. This completes the bead end of the bracelet, which you will insert through the loop end of the bracelet to fasten it.
-
4
Tie square knots with the leather cording to create the design of the bracelet. Continue tying square knots until the bracelet is about 1 inch shorter than the length you figured in Step 1.
-
5
Tighten the last square knot. Leave 1 inch of cording and then tie the two cords together in an overhand knot. Tighten this knot securely and cut off the excess cord on the other side of the knot with the scissors.
-
6
Wear the bracelet by fastening the loop over the bead on the other end of the bracelet.
