How to Broil in a Toaster Oven

A toaster oven broils much like a regular oven and gives your food the same juicy taste. The major difference between the two appliances is portion control. Not as large as an oven, the toaster oven has a small cooking area and only allows one or two steaks, kabobs or fish inside at one time. The advantage to a toaster oven includes less energy expended during use, resulting in a cooler kitchen and financial savings on your energy bill. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat your toaster oven. Turn the knob to "Broil." The setting for broiling will heat only the top element in your toaster oven, whereas the toasting and baking settings heat both the top and bottom elements.

    • 2

Season your food items and place them on the broiler pan.

    • 3

Insert the broiler pan into the toaster oven after it has preheated. Set the timer based on the broiling recipe of your item. For example, a steak recipe might call for seven to 10 minutes of broiling on each side of the meat.

    • 4

Flip the food to the other side when the timer sounds. Reset the timer for broiling the other side.

    • 5

Turn the knob to "Off" when the timer sounds again. Open the door of the toaster oven and remove the food.
