How to Airbrush With Frisket Paper
Airbrushing has been a hobby and profession beginning with the first airbrush, patented in 1876. Being an excellent free hand artist is not a requirement to enjoy airbrushing. Frisket paper allows professionals and hobbyists alike to make custom made stencils to assist in painting designs. Frisket paper, or frisket film as it is sometimes called, is sold in sheets or rolls, permitting users to buy in bulk or for single projects. Frisket paper can be found in most arts and craft stores.

1
Lay the airbrush design on a flat surface. Peel off the backing of the frisket paper and adhere it to the design, taking special care that there are no creases in the frisket paper.
-
2
Stroke the frisket paper with a towel or a straight edge to remove all wrinkles or creases. The design should be visible through the frisket paper.

3
Cut out the design using the hobby knife and blade. Focus carefully on following the lines of the design for accuracy. To ensure that there is no jaggedness to the frisket paper stencil, do not stop in the middle of a line. Finish cutting the entire design before painting. Remove the cut area to expose the section of the design to be painted.

Smooth the frisket paper after cutting the design and begin painting. When painting is complete, slowly peel off the frisket paper.
