How to Make a Wreath Template
A wreath is a traditional symbol of life and often used as seasonal decor. A grapevine wreath embellished with evergreen and holly represents Christmas; a straw wreath decorated with corn husks, nuts and artificial gourds is a sign of autumn; and a foam wreath laden with brightly colored flowers is a sign of spring. Young children make colorful wreaths with paper cutouts to give as gifts. Making a wreath is a project for crafters of almost any age. To get started on a wreath project, you need a template; a basic form on which you will build your creation.

1
Draw a circle on a large sheet of newspaper. Do this with the help of a compass, or trace around a coffee can or dinner plate. Tape loose sheets together.
-
2
Draw a second circle around the first circle with the help of a compass or by tracing an object that is 3 to 6 inches wider in diameter than the object you used to draw the first circle.

3
Cut out the circle-shaped center of the doughnut-shaped drawing. Cut along the outline of the larger circle. Use this newspaper cutout as a template, or trace it onto a piece of cardboard, foam core or wood for a more sturdy and long-lasting template.

Tips & Warnings
Wreaths come in other shapes. To make a square wreath template, repeat the process above by tracing a square tile or measure it with a ruler.
Increase the sturdiness and longevity of your newspaper template by laminating it.
