How to Use Multiple Printers on One IP Remote Port Forwarding in an SCO Unix Host

The SCO Unix operating system includes a feature to forward printing services via the local network. Using the common Unix printing system, or CUPS, you can provide the services of one or more local printers to other computers on the network. By default, CUPS automatically makes the first printer connected to the Unix host machine available to other computers on the network. However, you can use the command-line CUPS administration program to add additional printers to the network services offered by the server.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the "Terminal" shortcut on the desktop. This will open a terminal window where you can enter text-based commands.

    • 2

Type "su" without quotes, and press "Enter" to log in as the administrative user.

    • 3

Type "/etc/software/init.d/cups enable-multi" without quotes, and press "Enter." This enables the interface for multiple printers.

    • 4

Type "/etc/software/init.d/cups add printer" without quotes, and press "Enter." Replace "printer" with the name of the printer you want to make available to the network. Repeat this command for each printer you want to add.

    • 5

Type "/etc/software/init.d/cups restart" without quotes, and press "Enter." This will restart the CUPS service and enable the added printers.
