How to Get a Mennonite Pen Pal

Finding a Mennonite Pen Pal can take perserverence and a friendly attitude.

Mennonites are Christian Anabaptists that are known for their strong commitment to peace and nonviolence. Having a Mennonite pen pal is a way of learning more about the Mennonite way of life on a personal level. Developing a relationship with a Mennonite through letter writing will allow practicing Mennonites as well as non-Mennonites to better understand the religion. Finding a Mennonite pen pal may take some research, but it is certainly an achievable endeavor.

Instructions

1. Attend a Mennonite church service and afterward ask members of the congregation if they know anyone who would be interested in being a pen pal. Interacting directly with the Mennonite community is the most efficient course that will lead you to a potential pen pal.

2. Advertise in a Mennonite publication that you are looking fore a Mennonite pen pal. Such publications include The Budget, an Amish newspaper (see Resources); the Mennonite Weekly Review newspaper (see Resources); and the The Mennonite magazine (see Resources).

3. Join a Mennonite online forum, such as MennoDiscuss.com (see Resources) ,and ask other members if they would be interested in being your pen pal or if they know of anyone who might be.
