How to Troubleshoot a Pride Legend Scooter

Pride Mobility introduced its first line of mobility scooters in 1992. Over the course of time, the company became one of the world's leading manufacturers of mobility products. Even though Pride Mobility is a widely recognized name in the industry, its scooters may require occasional troubleshooting. If you're the owner of a Pride Legend, you should charge the batteries of your scooter before you troubleshoot to identify and repair a problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the wiring of the battery. Your Pride Legend's battery should be wired as follows: red to positive (+) and black to negative (-).

    • 2

Replace a battery if it will not hold a charge. "Batteries over a year old may be defective," according to Pride Mobility.

    • 3

Observe flash codes. You will not be able to operate your scooter until you resolve the problem indicated by the flash code. One flash indicates a low battery; charge the scooter's battery. Two flashes indicate a disconnected motor; check all connections to the motor. Six flashes indicate the Legend is in operation while the charger is attached to the scooter; unplug the charger. Nine flashes indicate the scooter was left in freewheel mode; turn the key to the "Off" position, push the manual freewheel lever to the "Drive" position, then restart the scooter.

Listen to the beep code. If your Mobility Legend does not have an LED display, a series of beeps can may help you troubleshoot a problem with your scooter. Two beeps indicates low battery voltage; a user should charge the battery until it's fully charged. Five beeps indicates a solenoid brake trip; to resolve the problem, push the freewheel lever into the drive position. Six beeps indicates a throttle trip; release the throttle control lever, then reinsert the key.

Check tire air pressure at least once a week to ensure the smooth operation of your scooter. Maintain a 2-2.4 bar (30-35 psi) tire pressure in pneumatic tires.
