How to Learn Tagalog Grammar
Tagalog is the language of the Tagalog people, who are native to the Philippines. Tagalog is not the official language there, as more than a hundred distinct tribal languages are spoken in the Philippines. Learning grammar is a step toward Tagalog fluency, and students should take full advantage of any opportunity presented to practice.

1
Take full advantage of websites that assist foreign language speakers. Websites such as learningtagalog.com provide grammatical rules, vocabulary and exercises for practice and skill acquisition.
-
2
Find a pen pal with whom to trade correspondence. Students in the Philippines study languages other than Tagalog and are eager to practice their skills with native speakers of the language being studied; some of these students are willing to exchange letters to increase their language practice. Exchanging letters will improve translation skills as well as strengthen grammar through seeing the language in its actual usage.

Search local libraries or bookstores for works written in Tagalog. Book stores feature titles written in the languages of the Philippines, such as books full of Philippine poetry.

Tips & Warnings
When introducing yourself to a pen pal, be as vague as possible as to your location, income, and other personal information. Obtain a PO Box through the local post office for correspondence until you get a feel for your new Tagalog friend.
