How to Type School Projects
When typing a school project, research paper or essay, you will need to keep in mind both grammar rules as well as the rules and instructions set forward by the teacher. While some teachers will follow specified forms and styles, such as MLA, others will have their own guidelines and preferences. Begin the project by brainstorming and preparing a rough draft before completing the final copy, as it will help organize your thoughts and ideas.

1
For a document in MLA format, change your font settings to Times New Roman and a size of 12 point if this is not the default setting or if your teacher does not give any specific type setting instructions. If she does, refer to her instructions.
-
2
Set the margins on your paper to 1 inch for an MLA document or if your teacher does not give specific instructions. If she does, follow the given instructions.
-
-
3
Add a space after every period ending a sentence and indent every new paragraph.
-
4
Include your name, your teacher's name, the name of the class and the date, each on separate lines in the top, left corner of the paper. Insert page numbers on the top right corner of each page. Center and italicize the title on the line following the date. Include a title page with the title of the paper on a separate page if your teacher instructed you to do so. The title page, if used, will be the first page of the project.
-
5
Type your paper with an introductory paragraph, followed by supporting paragraphs and ending with a conclusion.
