Gerber Faucet Installation

Established in 1932, Gerber sells plumbing fixtures to markets throughout the United States. Their line of bathroom faucets embraces a number of different styles and materials, many of them certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's WaterSense program. The steps for Gerber faucet installation aren't any different from a typical faucet installation. The most important part of the process is ensuring that the countertop where the Gerber faucet installation will take place is clean and free from any foreign materials that could prevent the faucet from seating properly. Instructions

    • 1

Clean off the area where the Gerber faucet will be installed with a household cleaner and rag. Use the putty knife to scrape away any bits of caulk or putty that may be clinging to the counter.

    • 2

Roll out a thick -- about 1/2-inch -- bead of plumber's putty. Turn the Gerber faucet over. Press the putty into place on the underside of the Gerber faucet.

    • 3

Turn the Gerber faucet right side up. Insert it into the faucet holes in the countertop so that the spout is aligned over the sink. Press this into place.

    • 4

Get underneath the sink where the Gerber faucet is being installed. Thread the plastic wing nuts onto the threads on the underside of the sink by hand. Tighten with the pliers.

    • 5

Rub the inlets on the underside of the Gerber faucet and the supply valve outlets on the wall or floor underneath the sink with steel wool to clean them off. Wrap the threads with plumber's tape. You will need to wrap a total of four inlets/outlets, two on the Gerber inlet, two on the supply valve outlet.

    • 6

Connect one end of a supply hose to the hot water valve. Connect the other end to the inlet on the underside of the faucet. Secure with a pair of pliers or adjustable wrench. Do the same for the cold water supply.

    • 7

Turn the water supply on by rotating the water supply valves counterclockwise. Open the taps on the Gerber faucet and allow water to run in the sink. Check the hoses while the sink is running for leaks and tighten, if needed.
