How to Import iMail

Mac OS X includes an email application known as Mail.app, sometimes referred to as iMail (following Apple's naming convention in recent years). The iPhone also includes a mobile version of this application. Importing your account settings, preferences and email messages from the desktop version to the mobile is simple. You will need the iTunes media management application, which is the middleman between desktop and mobile.

Instructions

    • 1

Open iTunes on your computer. It is located in the "Applications" folder within Finder's sidebar.

    • 2

Plug your iPhone into your computer's USB port using the included USB cable.

    • 3

Select the iPhone, then click the "Info" tab.

    • 4

Click "Sync Mail Accounts." Your accounts from Mail.app are listed --- click each account you wish to import to your iPhone.

    • 5

Click "Sync." iTunes will import Mail.app accounts, settings and messages to your iPhone. iTunes will continue to sync and import the changes your make on the iPhone's Mail application to Mail.app, and vice versa, when you sync your iPhone.
