How to Duplicate Grand Soul Gems

Duplicate grand soul gems for extra cash and quests.

In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the Xbox 360, you can duplicate grand soul gems using a glitch. One of the major side quests in the game requires you to deliver five empty grand soul gems to an NPC (non-player character). It's not easy to find empty grand soul gems, and they are expensive to buy. Using this trick, you can create as many as you need and sell the extras back to the shops to get extra cash in the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Equip a bow and a stack of arrows from the inventory screen. It doesn't matter which arrow you select. You will receive the same number of soul gems as you have arrows, so select a type of arrow that you have more than one of.

    • 2

Draw the arrow by holding the trigger on the controller, but don't fire.

    • 3

Press the "B" button to bring up the inventory screen. Scroll to the type of arrow you were using and press the "A" button twice. Listen for the error sound.

    • 4

Drop the grand soul gem you want to duplicate by scrolling to it and pressing the "A" button. Exit the menu by pressing "B," and duplicate soul gems will appear all around you.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can only duplicate empty soul gems. You cannot duplicate soul gems after they have a soul inside.
