1
Make sure the hair is dry. Dry hair is easier to control than wet hair. If it is necessary to wash the hair beforehand, blow dry it completely to eliminate any moisture.
-
2
Divide the hair into sections. Section the hair away from the bangs in the front. Grasp the hair in the back into a standard ponytail, and comb the bangs down in a straight manner.

3
Use a leave-in conditioning treatment. Spray the hair gently with the conditioner to provide manageability and sheen to the shag style. Put a small dab of styling gel over the bangs so that they stay in place. Afterward, comb the bangs down once more.

4
Go to the back of the hair. Keep the hair in the ponytail and gently tease it with a brush. Then, spray on a small amount of hairspray.
-
5
Take the hair out of the ponytail. Brush the hair gently and allow some of it to jut out on the sides. Set the look with hairspray and blow out the back using a hair dryer on a low setting to achieve a natural, tousled shag hairstyle.
