Instructions

    • 1

Download a copy of the practice tests from the State of Mississippi Department of Education website. These practice tests are divided into three sets and each has an answer key.

    • 2

Take the test from each set and grade the test using the answer key provided.

    • 3

Make a list of items that need extra attention or areas in which you struggled to meet the benchmark.

    • 4

Use these items to prepare a study guide for yourself. Your study guide should include practice problems from your textbook and the page numbers where they are found. Try to choose practice problems that have the answers provided in the back of the book.

    • 5

Do the practice problems and check your answers. Study the problems that continue to give you trouble and get help from your math teacher to understand the steps you are missing or the parts of the problem you still don't understand.

    • 6

Retake the practice tests for each set and measure your improvement.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider putting together a study group with other students who are having some of the same problems you are.

  • Get tutoring from a student who has taken the test in a previous year and been successful.
