How to Clean Mineral Deposits From a Toilet Tank

Mineral deposits form on toilet tanks when the mineral content in water settles on the surface and leaves behind dark, discolored residue. When getting rid of buildup, you will want to use something safe for the toilet and plumbing system, yet strong enough to remove discoloration.

Things You'll Need

• White vinegar
• Nylon sponge with scrubbing pad

Instructions

1. Drench a cleaning sponge with white distilled vinegar.

2. Flush the toilet so the water in the tank empties. Quickly scrub down the sides of the toilet tank as the water refills.

3. Flush again to drain the water and loosened residue.

4. Pour 2 cups white vinegar into your toilet tank each week to prevent mineral deposits from accumulating in the future.
