How to Make a Latte at Home Without a Machine

Caffe latte means milk with coffee in Italian

Latte, or Caffe Latte, literally means coffee with milk and is made using strong espresso coffee and foamed milk. In coffee shops, foamed milk is made by adding steam to milk which heats up the milk causing it to froth. This effect is easy to replicate at home without the need of a specialty coffee machine which can be quite expensive.

Things You'll Need

• Percolator
• Ground coffee
• Milk
• Saucepan
• Whisk

Instructions

1. Boil some water and add to the ground coffee in a percolator and allow to brew for at least five minutes. Any brand of strong ground coffee will be fine for this.

2. Pour some milk into a saucepan and place on the stove over a medium heat.

3. Whisk the milk as it is heated up so it will froth. You will need to whisk the milk faster as it gets hotter to create a long lasting foam; otherwise, the milk will become liquid again as soon as it is added to the coffee.

4. Pour some of the hot strong coffee into a cup or mug.

5. Add some of the hot liquid milk to the coffee and then spoon the foamed milk on top to create a latte. Add sugar as desired. If the milk has been frothed properly, the foam should hold the sugar for a few seconds before it sinks into the coffee.
