If you want to try out the look of an ear piercing but are not sure you want to commit to the actual procedure, a captive bead ring without the bead can help you fake the look. Captive bead rings are C-shaped rings that hold a small indented bead in the opening. When you remove the bead as if to insert the jewelry in a piercing, you are left with a ring that you can slide onto your ear to fake a piercing
Things You'll Need
- 18 gauge captive bead ring
Hold the captive bead ring just below the bead with the thumb and index finger of one hand.
Push the bead sideways to pop it out of the ring. Set the bead aside.
Locate the spot on your earlobe where you would like your fake piercing to be.
Slide the opening of the captive bead ring onto your earlobe until it touches the spot you have chosen.
Press the ends toward each other gently if you need to tighten the ring to keep it on your ear.
Tips & Warnings
- Never pull the prongs of a captive bead ring apart vertically. This can bend the ring out of shape and keep you from being able to reinsert the bead.
