Wax, dirt and debris tends to accumulate in the dog's ear canal making it an ideal environment for bacteria, yeast and pesky parasites. Instructions

      Dilute the vinegar by mixing it with water. You will have to mix one part vinegar to one part water, according to Vetinfo. Vinegar is made of acetic acid, which is effective in dissolving ear wax and also killing parasites or possible bacteria.

      Insert the water and vinegar mixture into an eye dropper and instill into the dog's ears. Massage the base of the ear to distribute throughout the ear canal and facilitate the entrance of the solution.

      Allow the dog to shake its head to remove the excess solution. Afterward, use the cotton ball to gently remove wax and debris from the dog's ears.

      Praise your dog and give treats. You always want to end ear cleaning sessions on a positive note so your dog looks forward to them and remains happy and cooperative.

  • Always dilute the vinegar with water.

  • You may use apple cider vinegar to make homemade dog ear wax cleaning solution.

  • Clipping the hair in the ear area may make ear cleaning and removing wax easier.

  • Do not apply if there are chances your dog has a perforated ear drum.

  • Avoid using if your dog has open sores; the solution will cause a burning sensation.

  • If your dog's ears are painful to touch, contact your veterinarian.

  • Excessive ear cleaning can cause damage to the dog's ear.

  • Avoid using cotton swabs; they push the wax further down the ear canal and may rupture the ear drum.
