Everyone with a home office or computer station knows the unsightly look of computer cord "spaghetti." Cables winding in all directions create visual clutter and a tripping hazard. With peripheral devices such as speakers, printers, fax machines and other hardware devices, cords are a seemingly unmanageable necessity. However, you can neatly organize your computer cables and rid yourself of the cable spaghetti fiasco. Does this Spark an idea?

      Power down your PC. Close all applications and turn off your hard-drive and monitor. Turn off all peripheral devices as well.

      Unplug each computer cord, making a mental or written note of what goes where. Stretch the cables out alongside each other to their fullest length.

      Group the cables together according to attachment proximity. The trick is to align the cords that are plugged in closest together.

      Wrap a twist tie around the grouped cables every 6 to 10 inches and/or put cable tubing around the grouped cords.

    • 5

      Plug the cords back in and power up your PC and peripheral devices. Test each device to make sure it is working properly.
