Instructions

    • 1

Wring out clothes thoroughly before hanging them. The less water they retain, the more easily they will dry.

    • 2

Hang your clothes on an outdoor line as early as possible in the morning. If the weather is freezing early on, wait until the temperature rises above freezing. The sooner you can get your clothes out, the more daylight hours you will have for drying.

    • 3

Position your clothesline in an area that receives full sun all day and is well ventilated. If you place the line too close to a structure, you may have problems with ventilation and shadows, which will reduce drying efficiency.

    • 4

Hang your clothes on an indoor line on when the weather is rainy or overcast, or when the temperature does not rise above freezing. You can suspend an indoor line in your utility room, garage, or other less-used room of the house.
