How to Paint a Black Cat Face for Halloween
If you're looking for an inexpensive Halloween costume, anything that makes use of face paint is a great choice. Although you can use any makeup to create the look you want, many Halloween and theater makeup companies produce palettes of water-based face paint that provide a great final result at a low cost. These face-painting kits are available in Halloween specialty stores and costume shops, many party stores and online. Painting a black cat face is especially simple because you need only a few colors, and the technique is pretty standard.
Things You'll Need

1
Purchase a palette of water-based face paints that includes gray. If gray isn't available, make sure the palette includes black and white so you can blend your own gray paint.
-
2
Wet a makeup sponge and squeeze out the excess moisture. If the sponge isn't included with the makeup palette, buy one in the cosmetics section of a discount store or drugstore. Work the moist sponge into the gray paint. If blending white and black, dip separate parts of the sponge into black and white paint and blend the two colors on the back of your hand before applying to the face.

3
Apply the gray paint over both eyelids extending up over the eyebrows. Also color a mustache-like shape beneath the nose that covers the upper lip.
-
4
Outline the eyes with a black eyeliner pencil. Extend the line upward about 1/4 inch from the outer corner of each eye. Smudge both lines toward the temples with your finger.
-
5
Outline the gray mustache area with black from the palette using a thin paintbrush. Dip the bristles of the paintbrush in water, then work into the black paint. Don't overload the brush; you should be able to draw a line without drips or thick smudges.
-
6
Paint three black dots on each side of the mustache area, then draw whiskers from each of the black dots. The whiskers should extend out over the cheeks.
-
7
Paint a line running from the bottom of the nose over the upper lip. Outline and fill in the lower lip in black.
-
8
Create short curving lines out over the edges of the gray areas above the eyes using black face paint and the paintbrush. Make the lines wispy to resemble a cat's eyebrows.
-
9
Paint an upside-down triangle over the tip of the nose with black face paint. Fill the triangle in with black.
