How to Load ROM Games

A ROM is a video game program that you can play on your computer. Most games that are developed for video game systems, such as the Playstation or Xbox, are also available as ROM files to play on a computer. To play a ROM, you must have an emulator, which is a program that enables you to play ROM files. You can load a ROM in a few steps.

Instructions

1. Download an emulator program designed for the ROM you want to play. For example, if you have a ROM for an Xbox game, you must download an Xbox emulator. Many websites, such as Emulator Zone and Cool ROM, offer emulator downloads (see Resources).

2. Install the emulator program on your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions. Restart your computer, if prompted. Read the electronic manual that comes with the program so you are familiar with its functions.

3. Open the emulator program by double-clicking on its icon. Click on the "Options" menu and select "Open ROM." Look for the location of your ROM, select it and click "OK." The ROM will load and you can begin playing.
