How to Donate Good Used Clothing to Iowa City Flood Victims
The effects of the 2008 Iowa City flood continue to affect residents. Many people in the area have not yet recovered their lives more than two years after the flood waters receded. Although the immediate effects of the flood have diminished, groups are still willing to organize clothing donations for vulnerable people. Donating good clothing is a way of helping the victims of the flooding with something they will really appreciate.

1
Sort your clothing and give serious consideration as to whether items are worth donating. You should not view this as an opportunity to get rid of unwanted clothes, but rather think if someone will need these clothes.
-
2
Clean your clothing before donating it. Soiled clothing will not be accepted by organizations. If the clothing is ripped, sew it up, or do not donate it.

3
Find your local clothing drop-off center that is accepting clothes for Iowa City victims. United Way of Johnson County in Coralville and Iowa City, Iowa, (Unitedwayjc.org) are accepting donations. Search the Internet or your local Yellow Pages for clothing donation organizations, and confirm whether they accept donations for a specific area.
-
4
Take the clothing to the drop-off center in a bag. You will not need to provide any information to donate clothing. You may be able to drop it off in person, or a clothing donation bin may be available. Leave the clothes, and your donation is complete.
