How to Make Liquid Hand Soap From Bar Soap

Liquid soap is easy and fun to make.

Making liquid hand soap at home is both satisfying and economical. Chances are you already have the ingredients you need in your home, which makes it that much more affordable. There are a lot of different liquid soap recipes including herbal, glycerine, basic and moisturizing. You can double the batches of soap you are making and store it for later use. Homemade liquid soap is also fun to use as gifts for friends and teachers.

Things You'll Need

• Cheese grater
• Bar of soap
• Water
• Soap dispenser

Instructions

1. Grate your bar of soap. If you do not have a grater, cut the bar of soap into small pieces. You need the soap to dissolve in the water so it should be as small as you can get it.

2. Boil 3 cups of water. Add the grated soap and stir until it is dissolved.

3. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool down. This can take about 20 minutes.

4. Pour the cooled mixture into the dispenser or storage containers.

Tips & Warnings

• For added moisture, use a moisturizing soap bar. To make your liquid soap a gift, you can add a little ribbon around the neck of the dispenser with a homemade soap card attached.
