Advancements in technology have given some cell phones the ability to control some TVs. But TV remote controls typically work through infrared, and there are no cell phones on the market that use infrared, as of January 2011. So the TV has to have access to the Internet, or better yet, a cable box or satellite box. However, once set up, you can control your TV from across the world.
