How to Add Maps to Quake 3

"Quake 3 Arena" is a multiplayer and single player arena battle game developed by id Software. It comes with a number of included battle arenas that you can extend by downloading and installing map files from one of many map repositories on the Internet. These files are typically zipped and contain a ".pk3" file that contains the map data.

Instructions

1. Download your map from a Quake 3 Arena map repository (see Resources).

2. Double-click the archived file you download to open it in Windows Explorer.

3. Open the Start menu and type the path to your Quake 3 Arena baseQ3 directory to access it. By default this is "%ProgramFiles%\id Software\Quake3\baseQ3."

4. Drag the ".pk3" file from the opened archive and into the baseQ3 folder window.

5. Open "Quake 3 Arena." When you go to start a game or join a game, you will have access to the content you just downloaded.
