How to Make a Bezel Gemstone Necklace
Jewelry is used by men and women alike as a means of personal expression. But how personal can jewelry purchased from a a store really be? If you are wearing a store bought necklace you are likely to go outside and find someone else wearing the same piece. If you want truly unique jewelry you will have to make your own. One easy project to get started with is a gemstone necklace. You get to choose the stone, the setting and the chain to make a piece that is all your own.

1
Insert the gemstone cabochon into the bezel setting to make sure that it fits properly. Because of its domed shape and one flat edge, the cabochon is the ideal gemstone cut to mount in a bezel. The stone should fit snugly against all sides of the bezel. Place a small drop of craft glue inside the bezel to help hold the stone in place.

2
Push the bezel edge around the stone using a bezel roller. A bezel roller is a small handheld tool with a round polished steel head. Continue working around the stone rolling the bezel up and around the gemstone with the roller until it is secure.

Smooth out rough spots the bezel roller may have left behind with a burnishing tool. A burnishing tool is a small handheld tool that is used to smooth rough bezel edges around the gemstone and give the pendant a more polished looked. To use the burnishing tool start at one edge and work all the way around the gemstone applying even pressure to the top of the bezel.

String the pendant on a necklace chain. Enhance the look by adding a few matching gemstone beads to the necklace.
