How to Install Rake Gems

Rake is a build application for the Ruby Programming Language designed to allow developers to create Unix-style Makefiles for their Ruby applications. Rake files are created entirely in the Ruby language and are created by developers to allow a user to customize and install an application on his operating environment. The Gems package manager is part of Ruby and allows you to install Ruby frameworks and applications with a single command. You can install Rake through Gems from the command-line.

Instructions

      Open the Start menu and type "Command Prompt." Press "Enter."

    • 2

      Type "gem install -- remote rake" and press "Enter."

    • 3

      Wait as the download begins and the Rake program is installed.

    • 4

      Type "rake" on the Command Prompt window to run the Rake application.
