Instructions

    • 1

Check that the baked cupcakes are cool to the touch.

    • 2

Mix ¼ teaspoon of concentrated orange food coloring paste or orange concentrated gel with a 16-ounce container of white vanilla frosting. This amount is sufficient for 24 cupcakes.

    • 3

Cradle the cupcake in your hand. Get a small dollop of the orange frosting on your spatula and place it on the middle of the cupcake. Gently spread the frosting with the spatula until the edges are covered and the surface is smooth without ridges.

    • 4

Use black decorating gel to create three or four concentric circles on the frosted top, starting from the center of the cupcake and working your way out.

    • 5

Drag a toothpick through one circle to the next about 5 to 6 times to create the lines that are seen in spider webs.

    • 6

Place a black gumdrop on the center of the web for the spider body. Cut eight small pieces of black licorice for the spider legs and attach them to the body.
