How to Make Friends at Camp

How to Make Friends at Camp thumbnail
Making friends at camp can be easy.

Children of all ages go to camp during breaks from school. While camp is meant to be a fun-filled time, the new environment with unfamiliar people can be stressful for some. Perhaps the best way to get past the uncomfortable feeling is to make new friends. With the right attitude, making new friends at camp will come quickly and can be a fun process. This requires a leap out of the comfort zone, but the initial step is the hardest part.

Instructions

    • 1

Introduce yourself to your bunkmates. Tell them your name, where you're from and some of your interests. Ask your bunkmates some basic questions, such as their names, ages, interests and where they're from.

    • 2

Sign up for as many activities as possible. The more you participate in camp activities, the easier it will be to meet new people. Interaction with others at planned activities tends to be easier than breaking the ice on your own.

    • 3

Help others if you see them in need of help. Giving a helping hand is a good way to break the ice.

    • 4

Share treats from care packages with others, if your parents happen to send them. An obvious display of sharing and friendliness can make you more approachable to other campers.
